Manage customers and their exemption certificates.
Overview
Customers represent the purchasers of goods sold by the merchant. You can manage exemption certificates on their behalf.
Exemption certificates
Customers may claim sales tax exemptions based on the purpose of the purchase (e.g., wholesale) or their entity type (e.g., nonprofit). When a customer claims an exemption, the merchant is required to collect proof that the customer is eligible for the exemption in the form of exemption certificates. Once an exemption certificate is uploaded, Commenda will validate the exemption certificate before applying the tax exemption. The validation status will be reflected in the verification_status
field. If the exemption certificate is not valid, the exemption will not be applied.
